The Belle Meade Chapter first met on November 15, 1933, with fifteen organizing members.

The Belle Meade Chapter chose its name, not only in commemoration of the past but also as an inspiration to help keep alive today the courage, the culture, and the patriotism of the Old south as lived on such places as Belle Meade Plantation near Nashville in Davidson County.  Belle Meade Plantation was famous for its fine horses, beautiful home, and southern hospitality.
