Sue Luscomb, Chapter Regent
The Chucalissa Chapter of the
Daughters of the American Revolution welcomes you to our website.
The name of our chapter was adopted from the Indian village located off
Mitchell Road near the Mississippi River in the western part of Shelby
County, Tennessee.
Chucalissa was one of several
Indian villages which developed in this area. DeSoto's men are
thought to have visited the Chucalissa settlement in 1541.
On June 9, 1966, our chapter was
presented to the Tennessee Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution (TSDAR) for the installation of officers.
The goal of our chapter is to
support the ideals of the National Society of the Daughters of the
American Revolution (NSDAR) which are historic preservation, education,
and patriotism.
We meet on the second Saturday
of the month in the morning. In addition to our monthly meetings,
we also honor
- Flag Day
- Veterans Day
- Constitution Week
- Annual Naturalization
Ceremony of new citizens
- State Conference of the
Tennessee Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution
- Continental Congress of the
National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
If you are interested in DAR
membership, please contact us at
