One Hundred Year Celebration
The
Colonel Hardy Murfree Chapter, NSDAR, celebrated 100 years of service to
God, Home, and Country on April 25, 2010. Over 150 chapter members and
friends attended an afternoon tea at the Murfreesboro home of Matt Murfree,
a descendant of the chapter namesake. Four distinguished members of the
chapter were honored: Sarah McKelley King, Honorary President General,
NSDAR; Dr. Rhea Seddon, former NASA astronaut; Mary Noailles Murfree,
Organizing Regent and author; and Jean Marie Faircloth MacArthur;
Murfreesboro native and wife of General Douglas MacArthur. Members of
the Stones River Society C.A.R. served punch and acted as greeters at the
event.
Prior to the tea, members held a ceremony marking the grave of Mary Noailles
Murfree at Evergreen Cemetery, Murfreesboro.
