Chartered in Old Hickory, Tennessee, in 1966, this active chapter now meets in the town of Hermitage; nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is an organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for our children.

From small towns to metropolitan areas, DAR members make a difference in their communities. Spanning three centuries of service, the mission of DAR remains vitally relevant, even in this changing world.

General Daniel Smiths Rock Castle Chapter NSDAR offers many opportunities for service. We work with our youth through educational programs; encourage our members to be involved in their communities with historic preservation, and promote the safekeeping of our local histories.

Membership provides the opportunity to meet new people with similar interests and to develop friendships with those who enjoy promoting the ideals of patriotism and love of country.

Patriots

Our chapter honors the legacy of General Daniel Smith. Daniel Smith was a surveyor, twice a United States Senator from Tennessee, maker of the first map of Tennessee and a patriot of the Revolutionary War. Builder of the first stone house in Tennessee, his home the Rock Castle, was started in 1784. Delayed by conflicts with area Native Americans, he completed his home in 1796. General Daniel Smith is buried at his home, the beautiful Rock Castle, in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
