State Conference — Schools and Juniors Breakfast — Fireflies and Fish, oh my!

Today’s blog is guest written by TSDAR School Committee Chair Ellie Betts. Ellie along with Jennifer Thomas, TSDAR Junior Membership Chair, will be hosting this year’s Saturday Morning Breakfast. This year we have a special program planned featuring Berry College that you won’t want to miss. In Service – Cecile

Juniors “Light up our Lives” and “Get Hooked on DAR Schools”

This year the Saturday breakfast, previously hosted by the Juniors, will be co-hosted with the DAR Schools Committee. The speaker will be Scott Breithaupt, Associate Vice President of Advancement at Berry College. Mr. Breithaupt will speak about Martha Berry’s relationship with Helen Pouch, which beautifully connects the Juniors and DAR Schools.

Martha Berry founded the Martha Berry School for Boys, the Martha Berry School for Girls and later the Berry Junior College which later became the four year college, Berry College, a DAR approved school..

The Helen Pouch Memorial Fund, established in 1938, was named in memory of Helen Pouch, 1901-1919. Helen was the daughter of Helena R. Pouch, who became the first national chair of the Junior Membership Committee in 1937 and later served as President General from 1941-1944.

Proceeds from donations, fundraisers and the Juniors Sales at Conference and Fall Workshops go to the Helen Pouch Memorial fund. The fund makes contributions to the Dar Schools and the DAR Approved Schools for specific needs.

Please join us Saturday morning for this fun and informative event, State Conference 2020.
