State Conference – Regent’s Banquet

Today’s blog is guest written by TSDAR Second Vice Regent Carol Teeters. As Second Vice Regent, Carol’s duties include spearheading and presiding over our Regent’s Banquet at each State Conference during the Wimberley Administration. She has a fantastic program planned, and I hope you will join us. In Service – Cecile

Our TSDAR Chapter Regents are remarkable women who give tirelessly of their time, talents, energy, and resources to meet the objectives of our Society and for the betterment of our communities and state.

Each year during State Conference, it is our privilege to set aside Saturday evening to recognize these ladies and to honor their contributions during the Chapter Regents Banquet.  While it is called the Chapter Regents Banquet, you do not have to be a chapter regent to attend.  This meal is open to ALL members and conference attendees.  This is an opportunity for members to show their appreciation and support for your chapter regent.

Our program speaker this year is Tyler Boyd, author of Tennessee Statesman Harry T. Burn:  Women Suffrage, Free Elections and a Life of Service.  Tyler is the great grand-nephew of Harry Burn and will speak about his great uncles unexpected vote which secured the passage of the 19th Amendment, as well as other accomplishments and controversies over the course of his career.

Additional activities during this formal evening include the traditional Regent’s Processional during which the District Directors, District Secretaries, and Chapter Regents are introduced.  This year 20 chapters will be recognized for anniversaries ranging from 5 years to 125 years.   Musical entertainment will be provided by the TSDAR Chorus and visiting State Regents will be introduced to bring, what are always informative and often entertaining, greetings from their respective state societies. This delightful evening will culminate with the announcement of the 2019 Outstanding Chapter Regent.

This is sure to be an evening that you will not want to miss.  Please make your plans to attend.  I look forward to seeing many of you there to support and celebrate these leaders in our Society.
