State Conference – Women’s Issues Lunch

Today’s blog is guest written by TSDAR Women’s Issues Chair Andrea Chaney. Andrea will be hosting this year’s Saturday Luncheon at State Conference. Obtaining the right to vote was a huge hurdle for women 100 years ago, and we will learn during this event more about how the Tennessee State Museum plans to celebrate this historic vote. The Women’s Issues Luncheon at the 2020 TSDAR State Conference will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020. During this event we will celebrate our successes throughout the state over the past year, present awards, and hear from a wonderful speaker. Miranda Fraley Rhodes will be joining us from the Tennessee State Museum to share with us about their 19th Amendment Exhibit.

Miranda Fraley Rhodes serves as the assistant chief curator at the Tennessee State Museum. Her current projects include working as the lead curator for the museum’s suffrage exhibit projects. She received her B.A. in History and English from Washington University in St. Louis and her M.A. and PhD in History from Indiana University at Bloomington. Prior to her time at the museum, she worked for the National Park Service. Dr. Rhodes has planned a program specifically for our Tennessee Daughters to help us experience the Tennessee Museum’s brand new exhibit on Tennessee’s role in securing the 19th Amendment. She will be bringing the exhibit to us through her presentation.

We know you will not want to miss this luncheon, and we look forward to celebrating with you all the great works happening for Women’s Issues in Tennessee!
