2019 Tennessee Awards

Today’s blog is guest written by TSDAR State First Vice Regent and Awards Chair Emily Robinson. As a chapter regent there isn’t anything more exciting than learning your chapter has won an award for the work your members have done in their communities and state. We are happy to be able to share an update on these awards with you now. For more real time notification of Dogwood Note posts and delivery to your email inbox, please consider subscribing to the blog. In Service – Cecile

Thank you, Tennessee chapters and members – you truly gave a “Season of Service” in 2019 to fulfill our DAR objectives of historic preservation, patriotism, and education. The commitment of each chapter is appreciated, and now it is time to recognize your outstanding work!

Our state committee chairs put in many hours of reading the chapters’ national and state reports and identifying awards. Thank you to each of our state chairmen for their dedication to recognizing our Tennessee chapters and members.

Tennessee Chapter Award Cards

Over 3,500 Tennessee award cards were created to recognize your efforts in 2019! The award cards, in a chapter envelope, would normally have been given to the chapter regent at the April State Conference. This year the chapter regent will receive the awards envelope at the August State Conference, being planned for August 13-16, at the Cool Springs Marriott in Franklin. Look for information about State Conference in the May online edition of the Tennessee DAR News, which will come out later this month.

Tennessee Award Spreadsheets

Award cards are not the only way that chapters can find out about their Tennessee awards. Two Excel spreadsheets with the award listings can be found on our Tennessee members-only website. One spreadsheet is organized by committee. The other listing is a searchable and sortable spreadsheet that will help you to sort the awards by your chapter. 2020 TSDAR Awards (for 2019)

Awards at State Conference

There are always special awards which are presented at the Tennessee State Conference, and we now plan to give these awards at the August State Conference.         Our 2020 Tennessee Outstanding Junior, Jennifer Thomas Woods, was announced during a virtual meeting, but we will recognize her again, and there will be other awards which you will want to see presented.

National Awards

Many Tennessee chapters and members receive national awards which we normally pass on to chapters at the August Workshops. With all of the changes we are experiencing, we are not sure of the process of receiving these award certificates, but we hope that we will have them to give to the chapters at the August State Conference.

Thank you to each member and chapter of the Tennessee Society for supporting our vital goals, and congratulations on your efforts and awards. During this difficult time, we have had many obstacles, but the Tennessee Daughters can certainly overcome the challenges. Please continue to keep up the good work in 2020 as we “Rise and Shine for America!”
