Tennessee’s Perfect 36 Suffrage Celebration

Today’s Dogwood Note is written by TN First Vice Regent and Perfect 36 Co-Chair Emily Robinson to invite you to a very special celebration this week. Many thanks to Co-Chairs Emily Robinson and Sallie Norton, along with DAR members Holly Matthews, Sandra Cox, Mary Ruden, Linda Mines, Amanda Hillard, Beth Hill and prospective member Candace Corrigan for providing video content and tech support for this amazing production. I know you will enjoy our virtual celebration. In Service, Cecile

You are invited to join the Tennessee Society as we celebrate the culmination of a year of commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment! Please join State Regent Cecile Wimberley and Perfect 36 Co-chairs Sallie Norton and Emily Robinson in a virtual celebration on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. EDT, 6:00 p.m. CDT. Please visit our YouTube Channel link to watch with us.

Although the original event – the Perfect 36 Luncheon at the Hermitage Hotel – was canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions in Nashville, we are thrilled that it is going to be reimagined virtually! All of the speakers, music, and awards planned for the luncheon will be recreated during our new online event. The first female senator from Tennessee, Marsha Blackburn, will bring virtual remarks, as will other special guests. We will be presenting an American Heritage Committee Women in the Arts Recognition Award to Candace Corrigan. You will have the opportunity to experience the awards ceremony and her music videos showcasing her talents. You will also be able to enjoy the beauty and history of the Hermitage Hotel during the presentation of the TSDAR Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism award from our State Regent. The program is also full of interesting and inspiring videos from our own members, so please mark the occasion of Women’s Equality Day together with your chapter members and friends!

The members have made the virtual suffrage parade on the TN Society Members Facebook page such a success! We have enjoyed seeing you dressed in white, yellow, and purple to honor past suffragists. If you have not yet posted a photo you still have time, as the parade is continuing until our virtual Perfect 36 Celebration. Remember to use the hashtag #tndarsuffrage100 to give permission for us to use your photograph on our public Facebook page and Instagram.

The Tennessee Society thanks our chapters and members for your dedication to commemorating the momentous anniversary of the 19th Amendment. You have truly done a spectacular job. Now let’s join together on August 26, at 6:00 p.m. CDT, 7:00 p.m. EDT, for our Perfect 36 Celebration – Online! – Emily Robinson
