As we get ready for October to begin, the TSDAR has several opportunities for you to participate and contribute to the work of our society via virtual methods. For those of you with Junior members or with an interest in growing your Junior membership, the TSDAR Junior Membership Committee will be hosting a Quaren-Tea from 2 to 4pm Eastern this Sunday, Oct 4. For any TSDAR member that wants to learn more about how to grow and support our junior membership, a delightful and informative afternoon is being planned for you. With games, prizes, and a reason to get out your best fancy hat, it will a wonderful way for all our Tennessee Daughters to learn more about this group of our future leaders. I certainly hope that you will join us by registering at the following link by September 30. Attendance at this event can count toward your Tennessee CMR/CAA for Junior Activities as this event will be replacing our Annual Juniors Retreat this year.
Tennessee chapters are already hard at work on their CAA reporting, and a question that our DAR Schools Committee has fielded several times this fall is “how do we conduct a school visit?” Fear not, the TSDAR has several opportunities for you to fulfill this this piece of your reporting. We are in the works currently with Crossnore to bring you a virtual school visit tentatively planned for November. However, if you are looking for something earlier that your chapter can use for a program, there is a wonderful production Breakfast with Barry that was created for our TSDAR State Conference. This video presentation features, “Uncommon Friends Martha Berry and Helen Pouch” by Scott Breithaupt, and is on the TSDAR YouTube site located here. Watching as a chapter or as an individual can count toward a virtual school visit for the Tennessee CMR/CAA. Additionally KDS will be taking their dedication day virtual this year and more information and registration links can be found at the KDS website located here. This event will be conducted via zoom and pre-registration is needed in order to attend.

Finally several of you have asked how you can purchase additional cookbooks for the holiday season. I’m delighted to announce the TSDAR will be opening a second sales window for 2020 in order for you to purchase more of these books. The books will be available in limited quantities beginning this Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7:00 am and concluding Oct. 21 at midnight Central at a special book only platform. Books will be distributed after the sale window concludes to the chapters via your state officers and other state officials in time to make them the perfect Christmas gift, and books will not be shipped. Please remember that any proceeds from the cookbook sales will go toward establishing a scholarship for veterans where yellow ribbon and other programs fall short.
All of these events will count on your Tennessee CMR/CAA in some capacity, so I hope you will take advantage of these upcoming opportunities to support our Educational, Patriotic and Administrative Committee goals.
In Service, Cecile
