From now until state conference we will be highlighting various aspects of our upcoming hybrid state conference. This morning we are starting with our Service to America Lunch, because of a special request. We are excited to have Brent Hutchinson as one of our guest speakers for state conference this year at this lunch. Brent is the Executive Director of Davis House Child Advocacy Center serving children who have been sexually or significantly physically abused and working to make their communities safer and trauma informed, throughout the 21st Judicial District of Tennessee, which includes Williamson, Hickman, Lewis, and Perry Counties. During covid-19 Davis House was one of the non-profits that our Tennessee Daughters made masks for to help serve the children in crisis. You may remember Brent from his time at Hindman Settlement School, one of the five approved DAR Schools located in Kentucky, when he visited state conference as their Executive Director. To learn more about this featured speaker check out our special edition online state conference newsletter.
To help further the efforts of Davis House, we will be collecting full size bottles of Shampoo, Conditioner, toothbrushes, and full sized toothpaste. These will be the only personal care items that we will be taking due to the nature of a new program they are launching. You may bring these to the Service to America Lunch on Saturday if you are attending, or boxes will also be available for drop-off on the way to the Saturday morning business session. If you are attending in person I would encourage you to bring a bottle or two of the requested items, as contributions made during state conference can count toward your chapter reporting for Operation Personal Care.
Finally don’t forget that presales for State Regent and Junior Membership items for state conference pickup are going on right now. You can still get cookbooks, scarves, graduation cords, and so much more. Visit the shop on members site here.
