NSDAR Special Called Meeting

This week it was a pleasure to attend the NSDAR special called meeting of Congress in DC. This meeting was called to address placement issues with the DAR Pathway to the Patriots tree project that was approved by the 127th Continental Congress. Progress on the project had slowed due to several issues regarding placement and requirements from partner groups. The National Society determined several options for next steps to find a more suitable location and more likeminded set of property owners that will allow us to see the project complete as visualized in concept. I am happy to say that after a thought provoking presentation by Honorary President General Lynn Young, the proposal passed, and now work can continue to complete the project in time for our Nation’s 250th!

While the evening included a wonderful reception the main reason for our attendance was this historic vote. I was pleased to have such a wonderful contingent of Tennessee daughters in attendance, especially considering the holiday season was upon us. It goes without saying it was also quite a thrill to get to sit in our newly renovated box for the session for the first time as your state regent. I am blessed to have such a fantastic group of DAR daughters, and truly each and every one of you has helped Tennessee Rise and Shine for America this year with your service and love for this organization.
