Today is the last day for regular conference registrations. If you have not already registered there is still plenty of time with our quick and easy online registration page. In a way we have been planning for this event since day one of this administration, as we are celebrating the accomplishments of our members and chapters. From speakers to awards, this is the conference we have been waiting to share with you. I have already shared a bit about the Friday workshops and opening night in previous blogs, but today I want to share a bit about the other events. During the Saturday Celebrate Tennessee Breakfast, we will be hearing more about Tennessee’s 250th efforts from the Tennessee 250th Commission Chair and Director of the Center for Historic Preservation, Dr. Carroll Van West. Dr. West is a prolific author and editor as well as a professor of history at Middle Tennessee State University. During the breakfast we will be giving several DAR America 250! awards as well as honoring members that have gone above an beyond with our state Service to America awards.
For months now we have been talking about the militia coat that the TSDAR, NSDAR, and T.S.C.A.R. provided funding to help preserve. Now is the time to see what all the fuss has been about. Featured in the American Spirit Magazine, the coat will be on display at the Tennessee State Museum. During our Historic Preservation Luncheon, Richard White, Curator of 18th and 19th Century Tennessee History for the museum will share more about the coat and the preservation project that has restored it for display. And if your chapter is interested in obtaining an NSDAR Historic Preservation Grant for a project in your area, you will not want to miss our Friday workshop on these grants conducted by our own Jeanne Preston. As former National Chair of NSDAR Special Project Grants, she knows all the ins and outs of the process.
Immediately following the afternoon business session on Saturday, we will honor our DAR Leadership Training Member Course and New Horizon Course graduates in a new event. We hope you will join us celebrate the work and projects of all these wonderful women. Saturday evening we will honor our wonderful chapter regents, with special chapter anniversary and President General Project certificates, and with the announcement of the 2022 Outstanding Chapter Regent during the Regent’s Banquet. We will also hear more from our special guest with greetings from their states.
After the memorial service Sunday we will end the weekend with our TSDAR Membership Celebration Brunch. We will have our graduation ceremony for all the recent DAR Leadership Training Committee Leaders Course graduates during this event. Membership, Junior Membership, DAR Service to Veterans, VIS committee awards and more will be announced as well. The morning will conclude with a short business session and the installation of the newly elected TSDAR State Officers so you will want to stay with us to celebrate the Robinson Associates.
We have so much planned for you at our 117th State Conference. I hope you will consider joining us. To join in the fun and fellowship click here.
In Service, Cecile
