Looking Forward to our August Workshops!

We have so much to look forward to as we start our DAR year! Chapters are planning their meetings, programs, and activities, and I am excited to be with many of you at the West, Middle, and East Workshops.

At the workshops, our sessions will be led by state officers and state committee chairs, and you will enjoy learning information that will be helpful to you and your chapter. These state leaders recently attended the Tennessee Society Leadership Workshop and Luncheon held in Franklin. They received information about state projects, reporting, awards, and our updated state website. You will meet many of them at the workshops either in sessions they are leading or at their committee displays, and they are ready to help you as you begin your year.

At the workshops, you will find new Tennessee Society state project sales items which support our state projects. The Volunteer Heart pins and earrings represent the volunteer hearts of our Daughters, and when you wear them, please remember that you are the heart of the Tennessee Society! The United in Love scarf is a must-have item, with its patriotic colors and meaningful scripture guidance. You will learn more about the upcoming state projects and have an opportunity to support them through our state sales items at the workshops!

We have news for the chapters regarding the DAR Good Citizens Committee. Chapters will now order their pins, certificates, and wallet cards directly from the DAR Store . Because of this change, these items will not be distributed at the August Workshops, and you will not need to bring a check. Please check the DAR Store often so that you can order as soon as the items become available.

While we look forward to being together, please keep our neighbors in Kentucky in your prayers. Hindman Settlement School, one of our DAR Approved Schools had significant damage from the flooding. They are serving as a center to distribute needed items to local families, and Hindman has updated their Hindman Settlement School website with two links that our members might want to use to give immediate assistance.

I look forward to being with you on August 5 at the West Workshop in Jackson, on August 6 at the Middle Workshop in Gallatin, and on August 20 at the East Workshop in Maryville. Our time to learn together and to fellowship is precious!

With Love,

Emily
