Good morning Tennessee Daughters! Please read today’s blog by TSDAR State Second Vice Regent Nannette Feeback. Love, Emily

The Robinson Administration is pleased to announce that the Tennessee Delegation will be participating in a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery Tomb of the Unknown Solider on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 12:15pm. Please plan to attend this meaningful ceremony if you will be in Washington DC for Continental Congress.

The Tomb of the Unknown Solider is hallowed ground. This is where we pay our respects to all those who fought for our country and who made the ultimate sacrifice. According to Arlington
National Cemetery, the purpose of the legislation which created the cemetery was “to bring home the body of an unknown American warrior who in himself represents no section, creed, or race in the late war and who typifies, moreover, the soul of America and the supreme sacrifice of her heroic dead.” Being able as a society to say thank you to our warriors is an honor and privilege. At the Tomb sentinels stand watch 24 hours a day, every day in all weather. These elite military members are part of the 3 rd U.S. Infantry Regiment. The changing of the guard will occur at the Tomb at 1pm; plan to arrive early to witness the changing to the guard. A solemn ceremony that is not to be missed.

The cemetery has a tram from the Welcome Center to the Tomb of the Unknown Solider. Tickets
for the tram can be purchased the day of the event in the Welcome Center or in advance online
at at https://www.arlingtontours.com/  This is a hop on/hop off tram tour that includes a history
narration of the cemetery. If you choose not to purchase a ticket for the tram, you may walk from
the Welcome Center; please note the walk is uphill and is quite a distance from the parking area.
Allow plenty of time to arrive prior to the ceremony from your hotel. Members do not need to
wear pins, dress is business casual with keeping in mind the weather and be sure to wear
comfortable shoes as you will be standing. We hope to see many Tennessee Daughters attend!
