State Conference – Practical Guide for Attendees: https://www.tndar.org/members/conference/countdown-to-state-conference-a-practical-guide-for-attendees/

Dear Daughters,

It is truly an honor to be a Tennessee Daughter!  We are known for our grace and welcoming nature and exude the spirit of hospitality at all of our events.  In this spirit of hospitality and welcome, there are some things we need to keep in mind as we navigate the weekend of our 120th TSDAR State Conference so that everyone has a wonderful time!!

Remember your white gloves for the receiving line following the Friday night dinner.  You will certainly want to speak to the State Regent and to meet the President General this year.

We are ALL volunteers, even our Pages.  They are there to help maintain the dignity and order of the proceedings.  PLEASE respect their instructions.

As a sign of respect, stand when the State Regent enters the room.

As a further sign of respect and hospitality, allow anyone wearing a sash to precede you into elevators, restrooms, etc.

Opening Night is a truly special occasion.  We are hosting many distinguished guests, both DAR members and outside guests.  Let’s put our best foot forward.  To that end, here are some reminders that will enhance not only our, but our guests enjoyment of the evening;

  1. On time is actually late!  On Friday night, we should all be at our assigned table by 6:20pm
  2. Tables are preset with salad and dessert.  Just because there is food on the table does not mean you can begin eating.  Once the Patriotic Exercises are completed, the State Regent will encourage you to enjoy your dinner.
  3. In the event your arrival is delayed, and the doors are already closed, be prepared to wait to enter the ballroom until after the colors are posted.  Once that happens, the Pages will open the doors for you to enter and will direct you to the side aisles to find your table.  Please do not walk down the center aisle!
  4. If you are wearing gloves, remember to remove your right glove to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and during the Star Spangled Banner.  Also, there should be nothing in your left hand.
  5. Once the State Regent has processed in or is seated on the dais, the center aisle is not to be used except by the official photographer.  If you wish to take pictures of a particular presentation, do so from the side of the room, not the center aisle. If you need to access the opposite side of the ballroom, use the side aisle to move to the back of the room and cross there.
  6. Wait to exit the ballroom until everyone from the head tables has retired, then you can use the center aisle to exit the room.

Thank you,
Pam McConnell
