Upcoming Official Visit from our President General Denise VanBuren

As the Wimberley Administration comes to a close, this week we are excited to have an important visitor with us for our Youth Awards and Statehood Day events. Today’s blog comes from State First Vice Regent and Awards Chair Emily Robinson with information regarding our events this year. She along with state officers, Sandra Long, Nannette Feeback, and Felicia Hix, have created a wonderful day of events to showcase our state to the President General. I will be sharing photos and more later this week from her official visit, and be sure to watch for the President General’s blog and facebook page for her posts on the event. In Service, Cecile

As announced at State Conference, our Statehood  Day Awards Ceremony will be held on June 1, 2022, 11:00 a.m. Central, at the Tennessee State Library and Archives in Nashville. We are excited that President General Denise Doring VanBuren will be attending!

We will also lay a wreath at the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Monument in Centennial Park in Nashville at 3:00 p.m. Central, and Mrs. VanBuren will be in attendance at that event as well.

For the Statehood Day Awards Ceremony, there is limited parking available under the TSLA building. You will need to use the keypad as you enter the garage, and push the button on the microphone in the middle to call the front desk. Let them know that you are there to attend the DAR event. You can park in any visitor parking space, but please do not park in the numbered spaces, which are reserved. If the parking lot is full, you can find street parking around the Bicentennial Mall or park at the Farmers Market parking in front of the Tennessee State Museum.

For the Wreath Laying, there is parking all around Centennial Park. The Tennessee Woman Suffrage Monument is at the corner of the Parthenon, on the West End Avenue side of the park.

Please let your members know about these special events. We hope to see you as we welcome President General Denise VanBuren to Tennessee, honor our outstanding student award winners, and honor women who were instrumental in securing our right to vote.

In Service,

Emily Robinson
