Tennessee Scholarships
1. TSDAR Scholarship
A $2,500 scholarship ($1,250 in the fall semester, $1,250 in the spring semester) granted to a graduating senior who will be attending an accredited U.S. college/university granting a degree. This may be a nursing school or junior college, but not a vocational school. A 150 to 300-word essay is required, transcripts, resume, and two letters of recommendation from a minister, scout leader, employer or educator.
2. Ellen Davies Rodgers / Zachariah Davies Scholarship
A $750 scholarship awarded to a full-time student entering his/her freshman year in an accredited U.S. college/university. This scholarship is not limited to a particular curriculum. A 300 to 500-word essay is required, transcripts, resume, a narrative on patriotic endeavors, and three letters of recommendation from a minister, CAR Senior Leader, Scout leader, employer, supervisor or community program or educator (not more than one letter from each field).
3. TSDAR American History Scholarship
A $1,000 scholarship granted to a graduating senior who will be attending an accredited U.S. college/university granting a degree, who will have a concentrated study of a minimum of 24 credit hours in American History and American Government.
4. Chaffin Hands of Service Continuing Education Scholarship
A $500 scholarship awarded to a Tennessee teacher who is working toward a Masters degree in education or toward National Board Certification or is attending a Summer Institute dedicated to the colonial/Revolutionary period (1775-1790) such as Colonial Williamsburg Summer Teacher Institute, Valley Forge, or Mount Vernon. A 300-500 word essay is required along with a resume and two letters of recommendation from a community leader and a peer teacher or instructor of the applicant.
