We are very proud of our chapter and our home in the shadow of the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee.

Here is a little bit of our history, taken from our chapter yearbook:

“On April 12, 1958, the first meeting of the newly formed Andrew Bogle Chapter was held, with the newly appointed organizing regent, Mrs. Reuben Hayes (Louise Bogle).

“Mrs. Hayes was concerned that there was not a chapter for the younger women in town. They decided it was their duty to organize a new chapter with the accent on youth for their daughters and their daughters’ friends.

“Mrs. Leland Coffey (Elizabeth Smith) was the regent of the James White Chapter, and it was Elizabeth who appointed Louise Hayes to serve. It was obvious to all that Louise was chosen because of her tireless energy, her knowledge of DAR (a past regent of James White), her likeable personality, and her ability to finish a job without procrastination.

“The response was so great that within six short months, they had 43 approved papers. Louise had succeeded in organizing the largest chapter in DAR history with the help of the James White Chapter.

“The Andrew Bogle Chapter, NSDAR, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was the seventh chapter organized in Knox County.”
