Our Chapter History

Commodore Perry Chapter is over 100 Years Old!

The Commodore Perry Chapter was organized in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 5, 1898, with fourteen charter members.  Mrs. Harvey Mathes was State Regent and Mrs. Charles B. Bryan was Chapter Regent.  Mrs. Bryan was the daughter of Admiral Ralph Semmes, who was a great admirer of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry.  Semmes' first cruise as a midshipman on The Lexington, was to bring home the remains of Commodore Perry.  In honor of Mrs. Bryan, the chapter was named for Commodore Perry.

Chapter Meetings

The Commodore Perry Chapter meets on the third Saturday of the month from September to May.
