John Sevier settled his family near the Nolichucky River, earning the nickname &#8220;Nolichucky Jack&#8221; for his expeditions along the river. John &#8220;Nolichucky Jack&#8221; Sevier would later become the first governor of the state of Tennessee.<\/p><p>Today the river is referred to as the Nolichucky. However, the river and river valley were historically referred to as Nolachuckey. Greeneville is the town seat of Greene County, which is located in Upper East Tennessee on the North Carolina border. However, our Daughters live both near and far. Daughters from six surrounding counties as well as California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Michigan, and New York also call our chapter home.<\/p><p>Our chapter is considered part of the Appalachian District within the <a href=\"https:\/\/tndar.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tennessee Society Daughters of the American Revolution (TSDAR)<\/a>. While much of our work is focused within historic Greene County, we also serve and work in the greater Upper East Tennessee area.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-a8d402f elementor-section-content-middle elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"a8d402f\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-66 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-52b543c\" data-id=\"52b543c\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7b5c0a2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7b5c0a2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The late Mrs. Margaret Johnson Patterson Bartlett was a dedicated member of the chapter. Mrs. Bartlett was the great-granddaughter of President Andrew Johnson, who hailed from Greeneville. In 1968, Mrs. Bartlett built her home in the style of her great-grandfather&#8217;s homestead, which is located one block away. At her death in 1995, Mrs. Bartlett bequeathed her home to the chapter for its use.<\/p><p>The Nolachuckey Chapter, NSDAR, holds most regular meetings at the Patterson-Bartlett DAR House. We meet on the third Saturday of each month from September through May. We would love to have you join us.
