1917 Letter from Herbert Hoover

June 25, 1917

Miss Susie Gentry,
Maplehurst,
Franklin, Tenn.

My dear Miss Gentry:

Many thanks for your letter of June 19th, in which you pledge your allegiance to your country, and also join the Food Administration.

It is with a great deal of interest that we note the contents of the article you wrote, which was published in the Nashville Banner. It undoubtedly did a great deal towards the education of the women of your State. It is through women of your ability, who are able to voice their sentiments in print, that the American public must be educated in this movement for the conservation of all our resources; hence we sincerely hope that you will continue to write newspaper articles and spread them broadcast.

Thanking you for youre hearty co-operation, I beg to remain

Yours very truly,
Herbert Hoover, President
