IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY
and around the world, DAR members volunteer their time and resources, dedicating themselves to the fulfillment of our organization’s three main objectives: Historic Preservation, Patriotism, and Education. These objectives were agreed upon in the first meeting of the DAR and have remained unchanged throughout DAR’s more than 125 years of active service to the nation.
Joining the grassroots efforts
of chapters throughout the country, Old Glory members plan and execute projects, events, and activities that focus on the stated mission of DAR. We are mindful of the increasing demands on our member’s time and are deliberate in planning service opportunities that are both relevant and meaningful. As we volunteer our time and resources in service to America, we are invested in preserving history, leaving a legacy, and honoring our patriot ancestors.
Preserving History
As one of the three main initiatives of DAR, historic preservation has always been a priority for Old Glory. We recognize these efforts are crucial to help preserve our cultural heritage for future generations.
Leaving a Legacy
We are passionate about educating our children and have a variety of programs to further this effort. Providing resources, working in cooperation with Williamson County Schools, and providing support for other educational initiatives, we proliferate the idea that the rights and responsibilities of citizenship can and should be taught from an early age.
Honoring Revolutionary War Patriots
Love of country was the foundational purpose for the organization of DAR. Old Glory members find connectedness with other women as we honor the heritage of those who fought for freedom and endeavor to provide a bright future for our children.
