Support for Education

DAR members are passionate about education. We have a history of establishing schools for the underserved in our country and we continue to fund schools, scholarships, and awards for outstanding students throughout the country. We also support local schools and literacy programs for adults and children. We sponsor American History contests and offer summer camps and cultural programs. Our current President General’s theme is “Moving Forward in Service to America” and we provide many opportunities for our members to support education in our local schools.

We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future” – Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Are you a teacher? You may be interested to know that the National DAR website offers resources that teachers will find useful for teaching subjects such as the Revolutionary War, family history/genealogy and the colonial period. Teachers are encouraged to explore these resources and take advantage of the programs we offer. Our local chapter sponsors some of these programs and all you need do is contact us for more information.
