God, Home, and Country

The Colonel Hardy Murfree Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), is a non-political group of women located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Our objectives, along with those of all National Society chapters, are to further historic preservation, education, and patriotism through channels such as literacy, conservation, and service to America.

Historic Preservation

Historic Preservation begins in the present with both restoration and conservation efforts. From cemetery upkeep, museum visits, tree plantings, and river clean up days, future generations will enjoy the benefits.

Education

Literacy forms the foundation of education. Partnerships with local schools providing books and educational programs, Little Libraries, Citizenship Classes, and book clubs further the love of learning.

Patriotism

Love of country leads to service of those that protect our rights and freedoms. Patriotism projects extend from active-service support, to VA partnerships, and programs such as Constitution Week to build support our great nation!

We had a wonderful America 250th Celebration on the Murfreesboro Square this morning. We wish to thank our funding supporters: the LaRoche Family Foundation, Colonel Hardy Murfree, NSDAR, Rutherford County Government, and private individuals. We also wish to thank all the organizations who participated in today's activities: Colonel Hardy Murfree and Captain William Lytle DAR Chapters, Stones River Sons of the American Revolution, Children of the American Revolution, Rutherford County Historical Society, Democracy Project, and Rutherford County Government. We appreciate the musical talents of RhRhonda Braswell Tenpennypenny and Brenda Williams who greatly added to the event. And we wish to thank all our community members who showed up today and helped us celebrate this momentous occasion. God Bless the U.S.A. ...
Daughters of the Colonel Hardy Murfree, NSDAR and Captain William Lytle Chapter worked together to individually package 1,000 patriotic cupcakes. Thank you, too, to our HODARs who showed up to help. Our treasurer met us at Sam's to pay for the 1,000 cupcakes and bottled waters, which was covered through a grant from the LaRoche Family Foundation. We wore hair nets and gloves to follow all health code protocol. Then we packed everything up and secured it at the Courthouse for the Celebration on the Square on the morning of July 4th. We have a great group of members who always answer the call. Thank you to the great team at the County Mayor's office for working with us especially Sonya Stephenson. ...
