“STITCHING HISTORY TOGETHER”

2023 – 2024

The STITCHING HISTORY TOGETHER state project will raise funds to create a child soldier mannequin, 18th-century reproduction clothing, and accouterments, for the museum at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park in Elizabethton, TN.

This permanent exhibit will establish a more inclusive interpretive experience for museum guests while offering historical information about the children who served as soldiers during the American Revolution. Funds raised will also provide for 18th-century style reproduction material culture items to be placed in the children’s bedroom at Carter Mansion, the oldest frame house west of the Alleghany Mountains, completed in 1780.
