1910 Flags in Schools

Flags donated to Schools

In minutes from 1910, Old Glory Chapter records that along with the Children of the Republic, Flags were placed in the Williamson County public schools. The minutes state that this was a successful initiative due to the “aid and kindness” of Mr. Page, Superintendent of the Public Schools. The chapter recognized that it is through his support and cooperation that the United State Flag was “now in every public school in Williamson County.” The chapter had purchased nine dozen Flags at a cost of 40 cents per dozen for placement in the schools.

More than 100 years later, in 2016, Old Glory donated Flags for classroom use in Williamson County.
