The
Alexander Keith Chapter was organized at the home of Mrs. Louise Keith,
January 23, 1926. Fourteen ladies were present. Mrs. James
B. Frazier, Past Regent of the Chickamauga Chapter in Chattanooga, was
sponsor of the Chapter since it was at her request that the Organizing
Regent, Mrs. Louise Keith, be appointed. The
group took a vote and it was suggested that the Chapter be named Alexander
Keith in honor of the Revolutionary War ancestor of the Organizing
Regent. It was seconded and carried. Alexander
Keith served with distinction as Lieutenant, Captain and Aide de Camp to
General Washington in the Revolutionary War. Mrs. James Fraizer, Mrs.
H.P. Dunlap, Mrs. John Fort of Chattanooga and Miss Catherine Keith of Athens
were also descendants of Alexander Keith. |
