Located 15 miles east of Maryville in the 14th District, Ellejoy Baptist Church was organized in 1823, having met as an arm of Miller’s Cove Church since 1818.

Two known Revolutionary War soldiers are buried in this cemetery:

Benjamin Tipton grave marker
Benjamin Tipton, Sr. Born c 1752. Married (1) Rebecca Rhea. Married (2) Rebecca Cusick, in 1796, in Blount County, Tennessee. He was a Lt. in the Virginia Militia. and the second son of Col. John Tipton. Died 2-1807 in Blount County.
Willoughby Rogers grave marker
Willoughby Rogers. Born 1756 NC. Served as a corporal in Captain Jones’ 3rd North Carolina Regt. Married to Mary Vincent in 1782 in North Carolina. He was listed on the 1818 pension list in Blount County. Died 6-23-1828 Blount County. Marker placed by the Spencer Clack Chapter NSDAR in 1974.
